In The Beginning
In the beginning, the Angels seemed a lot like an orphan team. Not only did it go through a number of name changes since inception in 1961, the team was also shuffled around, shifting from Los Angeles to Anaheim. But that didn’t deter its spirit and potential. In the 1970s, the Angels became one of the hottest teams and fans clamored for Los Angeles Angels tickets to see the amazing Nolan Ryan on the field. In 1979, the Angels managed to reach the playoffs and it looked like the team was solid enough to get to the top in the following years.
However the eighties proved to be a frustrating time for the Angels. The team kept coming heartbreakingly close to clinching a win and it began to tell on the team’s morale. The most tragic event occurred when Donnie Moore committed suicide after the latter was blamed for the loss of the team’s American League pennant bid. To add to this list, the team also lost Lyman Bostock when he was shot in 1978.
Down But Not Out
Fans hoped to see a change in the Angels with the new decade and Los Angeles Angels tickets began selling well in anticipation of some baseball magic. But despite a number of changes, the team seemed to go from bad to worse until 1995, when it had its worst collapse in franchise history. Some people blamed this on the Curse of the Cowboy, which was said to have happened after Autry’s ownership of the team ended. Some placed the blame on the fact that the new stadium was situated on a Native American burial ground.
Whatever the reasons, the Angels refused to stay down. People were still lining up for Los Angeles Angels tickets because the fans still believed in them and the Angels were not about the disappoint them. With the new millennium, the baseball world saw a stronger, more confident team that managed to clinch the World Series title in 2002. The team has undergone a number of changes- ownership changed hands, the team name was changed and the stadium was renamed as well. The Angels continue to hammer out the successes today, making a number of remarkable wins in 2004 and 2005. Many feel that 2007 could be the best year yet for the Angels.
