Who SHOULD win the NL 1B gold glove?
Albert Pujols or Ike Davis? Ike Davis leads the MLB among first basement with a UZR (ultimate zone rating) of 10.1, though Davis has 5 more errors than Pujols (9 to 5) and Pujols has a higher fielding percentage by .5 (.993 to .998). who deserves it? we all know pujols is going to win it though because it’s a population contest… (look at derek jeter’s 5th gold glove)
i just picked the 1B with the best UZR (ike) and the defending one who always seems to win (pujols)
You have to look at more than the UZR and FP but the overall quality of play. It’s a little more subjective but what recognition requires only objectivity. If you watched Adrian Gonzales play first base with his ability to throw leading runners out, holdinig runners on base and some intangibles you might want to lengthen your short list from 2 to 3.
