Diamondbacks or d’backs?

Im trying to convince my stupid friends that the Arizona MLB team official name is the “Arizona Diamondbacks” and not the “d’backs”. The only reason they have d’backs on their jersey is because diamondbacks is to long. Why would you call the team d’backs? It sounds to much like d-bags lol.

The official name is the Diamondbacks. You are correct. Its similar to how some people call the blue jays just the jays, the cardinals the cards, the Athletics the A’s etc
