Mlb Equipment Fines
Signed up to be a YMCA T-ball Coach. Where the heck do they give advice?
So I went to what they call the “Coach’s Meeting”. The sports director was in a rush to get it over with as they needed the room in 30 minutes. I’ve never coached anything before in my life, but they told me before I applied “No experience needed”. Fine. I get there, and all the “coaches” are former coaches and the sports director only went over her phone number, and then the “coaches” argued about how many pitches versus hits from a tee the kids get.
Then I get a paper with 10 kids names and phone numbers and a rule book. Meeting over.
I feel kind of frustrated right now. I’m giving up 3 MLB ticket games to do this, and I feel like quitting. I’m supposed to make up my own practice sessions, pick up the equipment myself, and try to find a parent that will hopefully help. This sucks. Where the heck do I start?
1st…….. thank you for volunteering your time
there will be no advice or instruction manual. you will need to set up your practices & what you learn.
start w/ the fundamentals. get in front of the ball, throw it to 1st & hitting from a tee. do NOT turn down any offers for help in coaching, you may end up w/ a guy / gal that couldn’t commit to the HEAD coach job but can make practices & games.
good luck & remember…. it’s about the kids, having fun & learning the game of baseball
