Mlb Deadline 2009
There is less than 24 hours left until the deadline to sign 2009 first-year draft players…?
The top three picks (all represented by Scott Boras) have not been signed yet. Will Strasburg sign? If so, how much of an impact will he have on the Nationals next year? According to mlb.com, the Nationals predict that if he signs, Strasburg might be ready to join the team by September.
I think Strasburg will eventually sign. The Nats will have to give a bit more money than they want, but this is the guy they need to help rebuild their team and fan base.
I hope that if they do sign him, they let him pitch some winter ball, and have him ready to go for next season. With the worst record in baseball, there shouldn’t be a rush to get him to the big leagues before he’s ready. It would be good to see him get the Opening Day nod next season though (assuming the Nationals still have crappy pitching next season).
