Has anyone in the MLB ever hit 2 home runs and 2 triples in the same game?
Would this be the ultimate test of speed and power and more meaningful than hitting for the cycle?
It’s happened four times since 1920.
Lou Gehrig on 12-June-1928 — Yankees defeated White Sox, 15-7.
Lew Fonseca on 29-May-1929 — Indians defeated White Sox, 11-1.
Willie Mays on 13-May-1958 — Giants defeated Dodgers, 16-9.
Dmitri Young on 06-May-2003 — Tigers defeated Orioles, 7-6.
Not often you get to see guys like Young and Fonseca stand beside stalwarts like Mays and Gehrig, but there it is.
May obviously is the prime month for such things, so pay attention closely over the next few weeks.
