MLB.COM reports potential Cleveland Indians Trade, Would You Make This Deal?
MLB.com says talks are heating up with Indians and Pirates. Indians get Jason Bay in left Field and Catcher Ronny Paulino to back up Victor Martinez. Pirates want Franklin Gutierrez (OF), catcher Kelly Shoppach and one of these pitchers: Aaron Laffey, Jeremy Sowers, Cliff Lee or prospect Adam Miller. I know Bay is good for 27-30 HR a year and can hit you about .290 on a good year. Do you give up all that the Pirates want to fill Cleveland’s only weak spot in their batting order? Would you make the deal?
The first poster here is an idiot-Indians and their miniscule payroll took Boston 7 games-put a hell of a scare in Red Sox Nation if they want to admit that or not. And they are YOUNG.

Okay you have Gutierrez who played his first season really in the bigs last year-he played 100 games hit 13 HR 36 RBI batting .268-24 years old and excellent in the field.
Then you have Shoppach who would play once a week 27 year old back up catcher who in 51 games Hit 7 HR 30 RBI and batted .261…not bad for a guy who gets 4-5 AB’s a week
Laffey is a 22 year old picther-just turned 22 made his MLB debut this year went 4-2 with a 4.56 ERA-I like that kids upside.
Then you have Cliff Lee-29 year old lefty who is one year removed from going 18-5 with a 3.79 ERA…the second time in his career he won 18 games.
Pirates can have Sowers and Miller and Shoppach-I’m not giving up Laffey or Cliff Lee or Gutierrez for Jason Bay and a back up catcher. They better sweeten the pot.
