Which MLB players are currently representing themselves when it comes to negotiating their contract?
I just read an article in MLB.com that Garret Anderson, formerly of the Angels, just hired Scott Boras and that he was one of few players who represented themselves. Who else is out there and even if you believe you can represent yourself do you think is a better idea than hiring a representative?
No, you need an attorney to review the contract. It is a legal document despite what some of the malcontents think. Whether you get one directly or through an agent is up to the player. Agents have a lot more experience and have attorneys on their staffs.
Yes there have been some that negotiated their on agreements. I don’t know if they did better or worse than if they had an agent. I just know that in my legal arrangements, I’m going to have legal counsel.
