which MLB league has the better pitchers, hitters, ballparks, and overall best quality baseball? the AL or NL
This question is much too complicated for an final answer to be decided by a bunch of FANS…. but I’ll give you my opinion.
The numbers on the head to head matchups, i.e. interleague play, All Star, World Series, seem to be one sided for the Junior Circuit. I’m no statistician but I do believe the AL wins about 60% of interleague games. If that was translated to a full season every team would win 96 out of 162 games played. Thats a pennant type record. They have won every All-Star game since ’96 (save one tie) and have won 7 of 11 World Series in that same time frame.
The problem is that this discussion is usually based solely around the DH debate (AL 19-13 in WS since inception in ’73). But in recent years I think most of has to do with money. The AL has the three biggest spenders in baseball (Yanks, Red Sox, Angels). They have to spend to stay competitive, and when they do (spend money) usually you get better players.
Voila, yes it is much more scientific than that and I do think the DH has something to do with it, but all in all baseball is like life, the guy with the most money usually has the most fun.
