Would Cole Hamels be an Ace on 20 teams MLB?
So my friend and I were having a debate about baseball pitchers. My friend thought that Cole Hamels would be the ace of many teams in the majors. I made a statement that I thought there were 10 teams in the majors where Cole Hamels would not be the ace. I composed a list and shared it with him. What do you think?

Justin Verlander

Roy Halladay (Cliff Lee doesn’t count because they are on the same team)

* indicates a player I viewed as marginally better or equal to Hamels’ ability.

Hamels is a fine young pitcher. I believe that he would be challenged to be an “ace” almost anywhere at this point. He is still showing some inconsistency. Two years from now, there will be few teams that he will not be number one. Let’s give him time.
