Mlb African American Players

Arvydas Sabonis…One of the greatest centers ever?
Defeated the USA in international comp a few times. Once he even got gold. Following the 88 Olympic games, the USA created the Dream Team…coincidence…I think not. Amazing set of skills (way more than Dwight) and was a highly effective NBA center even in the twilight of his career. With high player efficiency ratings. I personally think American fans missed out.
Here is something to consider: Just because he didnt play in the NBA, does that diminish his ability or skills? Think about African Americans who were denied the chance to play in the NBA, or MLB before the barrier was broken. They were still just as great regardless of where they played. If you havent already, I urge you to go watch some youtube videos of Sabas before you weigh in.
He was amazing when he was healthy. He probably would have led Portland to championships before he got hurt.
A lot of dumbass people don’t realize that he wasn’t allowed to come play here. Portland drafted him in the 80s but he couldn’t come until the 90s since his home country, Lithuania, was part of the Soviet Union….There’s no way in hell he was coming to America to dominate the NBA.
America DEFINITELY missed out…it wasn’t America’s fault though, it was Soviet Politics. He proved he could play against the Americans in the 1988 Olympics.
I’ve watched videos and I was absolutely amazed at what we missed out on.

Black players criss-crossed the country in Negro League games and on barnstorming tours, brin… |
