Does a pitcher get a “Complete Game” for a rain-shortened game?
In Major League Baseball, a game that is not tied can be called off on account of rain after at least five innings, and it will count in the standings as an official game, as a win or a loss for each team. The pitchers are therefore awarded a win or a loss. But what if the same guy pitches the entire rain-shortened game? Is he awarded a “Complete Game” statistic?
Don’t just say “yes” or “no” CITE A REFERENCE, please! There is no money but a lot of pride riding on the answer, and although I am certain that I am right, I haven’t been able to find a reference proving it. Please provide a reference link to prove it.
Yes he is credited with a CG. CC Sabathia has a complete game from April 16, 2010 that only went 6 innings but he pitched all 6 innings.
