major league players names
What type/amount of royalty would a minor league sports team/league charge to use copyrighted team names?

1) Would this be a fixed % of sales, or $ amount?
2) If this were a mobile phone application, would permission to do so typically need to come from the team, or from the overseeing league itself?
3) Would this permission typically be granted to an individual presenting a “finished” product to the team/league, rather than an established company?
4) Given that some minor leagues’ players are “owned” by, or operate under contracts of major league teams, would permission to use those players’ stats/pictures/etc also need to be obtained from the major league teams under which they are contracted?

You need to approach the leagues and player’s associations involved. In some cases, it can cost millions, and most professional leagues will also require a lot of testing to determine that your application was a decent quality and does not in any way harm the brand.
