Little League Baseball Strategy
Can you give advice for a new Little League Coach?
Our community is short on volun-teers and I have offered to coach for the minor boys team (8-10 years, pitching machine). I feel a little anxious because first of all I am a mother and second of all, some of our parents can be pretty vicious. I have been part of our baseball program for many years and I am very familiar with the procedures of the games, but I want to offer the boys the best for both practice and game strategy.
I am looking for drill suggestions and game situation suggestions. Please, if you know anything that has worked for your team or will help cement skills, I would be grateful. Also, any good sites for additional info would be wonderful.
I coached L.L. in AZ for 6yrs, from t-ball through 11-12 y/o. Most important thing is to have FUN!. teach the basics, the rest will follow. Encourage the kids in everyway. explain to the parents what your teaching the kids & ask them to be patient with you. most parents i’ve dealt with understand. also, try & get the parents involved during practices & even the games.
