Little League Baseball Budget
ten points best answer?
Okay I’m normally good at math but I got the flu and missed a lot so now I have a C. I have extra credit due soon but I need help. I don’t want the answer just tell me how I should work it. Here’s the question:
Critics of major league baseball point out that there is a great deal of difference between what teams can afford to pay their players each year.Take the example of the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who happen to play in the same division.
-In 2005, the Yankees paid their 25-man roster $207,000,000. In 2006, the Yankees spent a little less.
-The difference between the ’05 Yankee payroll and the ’06 Yankee payroll was $3,000,000 less than the entire Tampa Bay payroll for 2006.
-The ’06 Yankee payroll was 13 times that if the Devil Rays.
What was the payroll budget for each if these two teams in 2006?
Hi, create a simple table (the underscores are used for spacing purposes, ignore them):
Year_________Yanks__________D-Rays
2005______207,000,000________———–
2006___________X_______________Y
You are solving for X and Y (the 2005 D-Ray payroll is irrelevant). You are given 2 ‘clues’ and can therefore write 2 inequalities:
207,000,000 – x = y – 3,000,000
and
x = 13*y
Solve.
