NFL fans: What is your routine on Sundays?
I usually get up around 8:30 a.m. and read the sports section while drinking coffee, listen to sports talk radio, eat lunch while watching the pre-game crap. By the way, which network do you think has the best pregame coverage? They’ve all become kind of weird over the last few years, especially FOX. Do you have any pre-game rituals that you do for good luck for your favorite team?
If anybody is from the Mountian or Pacific time zone, what it is like to watch football in the morning time? How do you go about getting ready for an early kickoff time? What do the local FOX and CBS stations show after the late games? Here in the East, they go to primetime programming after football coverage. Then, I usually switch over to NBC’s pregame for the Sunday Night game. By the time the Sunday Night game is over in the East, it’s late and I go to bed.
Anyway, I was just interested in hearing how other football fans across the country usually spend their Sundays.
Home Games – We have Chiefs season tickets and they’ve started this new thing at Arrowhead last year where season ticket holders with RVs can park in the lot overnight. So we spend Saturday night partying in the parking lot at Arrowhead. Wake up at about 7:00 and start slow cooking ribs and then throw some brats and steaks on later. We chow down, drink beer and play washers (kind of like horseshoes) in the parking lot until about 30 min before game time. Then take our place in section 121 of the Red Sea to watch the Chiefs kick ass. Maybe not so much this year, though.
Away games – usually grill steaks, maybe make some nachos and kick back to watch the game on the couch.
As far as pregame rituals, we’ve got a small shrine to Derrick Thomas that has a #58 bobblehead doll in the middle of it. We each kiss the bobblehead before we head into the stadium on home games or right before kickoff on away games.
