Do you think the MLB should expand its playoff format?
I think it is unfair that only 8 teams out of 30 make the playoffs in the MLB. So I suggest this:
Shorten season to 150 games
Less Divisional games
More Interleague games
Division champions + 3 best non-division winners make the playoffs
1 vs 6, 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 playoff format (divisional opponents will face each other in playoffs, unlike current format, where that does not occur.)
When i say 3 best non-divisional winners, I could be saying a 3rd place team could make the playoffs over a 2nd place team, depending on record, head-to-head match-up, tiebreakers, etc. Do you agree with this format? If you don’t please feel free to state why, and suggest any changes you may think of. Do you think the current playoff system is unfair? Do you think there should be a playoff expansion?
Yes i notice the flaw in my playoff format, sorry. Ok, 1 & 2 off in the first round, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 play a best of 3, the next 2 rounds are best of 5, and the World Series is best of 7.
Yes — well, no, not really, but I accept it as inevitable — but not in the way described.
The current system is fair and fine. Every franchise knows the format well in advance. No surprises.
