Baseball Uniforms Detroit
Standards for MLB uniforms?
The beauty of baseball is in tradition. I hate to see teams waver from tradition in their uniforms. I’m not talking about stylish logos. I’m talking about a few norms that have always been there:
The grey away jersey has the name of the CITY, not the TEAM (ex: Boston, New York, Toronto). I hate seeing teams with the team name on the grey jersey (ex: Orioles, Angels)
The white home jersey has the team name (Red Sox, Dodgers) or a logo over the left breast (“NY” for Yankees, “D” for Detroit, Cubs logo, SOX for White Sox).
I also don’t like seeing teams with ABBREVIATIONS of their names on the jersey (Jays instead of Blue Jays, D-backs instead of Diamondbacks). I hate it!
I like having third and fourth jerseys (coloured and black jerseys), and those can have the team or city as far as I’m concerned (Black Rockies jersey says “COLORADO”, red Red Sox jersey says “RED SOX”).
How does everyone else feel about this?
I feel exactly the same way about all those things. I would like to add one more though. I hate that some guys don’t wear stirrups. It should be mandatory for everyone to wear them. Without the stirrups it just doesn’t look like a baseball uniform. It looks like a mediocre shirt and pants.
