Baseball Game Escalator Accident

December 7th, 2006

Why is it that the media….?

insists on interviewing a family, just after a trgedy? More specifically-on the news this morning, a man fell to his death from an escalator while at a baseball game with his daughters. He was not drinking or fooling around, just an unfortunate accident. This happened yesterday. So what is the importance of interviewing his two little girls? Do you think this is disgraceful? Disrespectful?

I’m sure if they didnt want to be interviewed, they wouldn’t have?

However, I agree with your general point that the media has a tendency to be intrusive, but this is because of the nature of sensationalism, and the need for ratings.

What is more interesting to a sympathetic viewer? a reporter saying what happened from an objective viewpoint, or someone intimately involved in the situation speaking from the heart?

Unfortunately, the media has one objective – to get ratings, to sell papers, etc
