Autographs and the sort for this young soldier..?

Good evening,

I have a quick question for you all, and appreciate any and all help. Right now, I have been in the US Army five years, currently stationed at Ft Drum. Every so often I send out cards to be signed to be autographed an have received a few back, first how many of these are usually from the actual players from TTM autographs? I have Snell, Velez, Logan, Ohlendorf and Nyjer Morgan. Secondly, I would love to get a baseball or even a picture signed of some if not all the Sf Giants my favorite team. Although, I don’t know how to accomplish this feat. I would feel awkward sending a letter to the SF Giants GM or manager saying, hey I’m in the Army can I get a signed team ball. I am not in it for the money, just would just love to have my favorite guys sign it. Thanks for help/advice!

Fondly

Sgt B. Verdegaal

First of all, I would like to thank you for all that you are doing! You are putting your life on the line for the freedom of us, and I can’t express how much I respect you!

Now back to the question. I do the exact same thing as you! If I were you, I would buy a baseball and mail it to a member of the San Francisco Giants. I don;t think you should ask for one, I am not sure how that would go. There are bubble mailers, and those are the best for transporting baseballs! And as always, be sure to include a SASE!

I would send it to a reliable signer on the Giants, like Brian Wilson or Fred Lewis. Write a long letter saying how you are a Giants fan, and that you are in the Army. And as the return address, put your station name where it would get the mail, and also on your SASE. In the letter, say how you have always wanted a team signed baseball, and was wondering if he could contribute. Then say that you will try to get the others through the mail also. And then be like “I would appreciate if you could get some others, but I completely understand if you can’t, so you don’t have to.”

I say this because a person on an autograph website bought an Angels hat that he was trying for the team to sign. He sent to Scot Shields, who got Lackey, and others to sign. I don’;t think writing to the GM or Giants organization would do anything, but is worth a try!

Good luck! Sorry if I didn’t help much. I will add you to my contacts list, you are a hero to me!
