Ichiro….Hall of Famer?
To me, just in the 10 years he’s been here in America, his numbers more than warrant it. Over 2200 hits, career BA of .331, 9 straight years of over 200 hits…When you add his Japanese baseball stats to that, he’s had well over 3400 hits so far. He’s the real deal as far as I’m concerned. Anyone care to agree or disagree?
Yes, he’s on pace for his record tenth straight 200 hit season. (at 188 and counting)
If he stays healthy, it’s likely he’ll want to stay in MLB until he gets 3000 hits. Assuming a slight drop from his current pace due to age, he should be about 41 or 42 when he gets there – quite possible.
If he retired now, he’s a Hall of Famer; if he gets 3000 hits he’s a certain first ballot Hall of Famer.
