Baseball America Recruiting

Do you think the lack of American baseball players is hurting Major League Baseball?
Right now, MLB is becoming a league filled with foreigners. But I am convinced that the U.S. has enough baseball talent. These teams really don’t have to recruit players from the Dominican Republic and places such as that. It just isn’t necessary. We have the best players right here in the U.S. Maybe this trend is shutting American born players out of the game. I am convinced that the talent in the U.S. is better than anywhere else. But this trend of recruiting in Japan and South America and Central America is hurting the game. Nobody wants to watch some player who can’t speak English and doesn’t even attempt to learn the language. We want to see homegrown guys. Hopefully this trend will end.
These foreigners also have no connection to the communities they play in.
Economicly you might be correct in your question. Fans at times might tire of the carpetbagger/foreigner makeup of their local team, and lose connection with it. However if the players bond with the local community, like Puljos in St. Louis, David Ortiz in Boston, and Vlad Guerrero in Orange County, then it is not a problem.
On the issue of American players, three factors are at play. Many good young athletes prefer to concentrate on football and basketball, limiting the pool of potential good players. Second the over-structure of Little League, with must-play and semi-uncompetetive play rules imposed on the players. Third the Latin American and Japanesse youth work much more on their games than the American kids do.
