I do believe the cocaine use was an issue. His numbers stack up favorable with Andre Dawson who was elected. They both had great throwing arms. Parker was a better contact hitter while Dawson had more speed and slightly more power.

I don’t think Parker should be a Hall of Famer but I do think he should have gotten more than the 15% of the vote that he has averaged the 14 years he’s been on the ballot so far. I’m not sure if I agree with Dawson being in the Hall of Fame as well.
