I think in this era with his stats and his consistency he should get in. He’s never been suspected of using and I think he’s exactly the type of guy the Hall of Fame needs from this era.
And yes, he has no gold gloves but he was definitely good enough to win it. Could have gotten it over Mark Grace in 1995, for example.
And yeah I did make a mistake I guess, it’s 2010. I know I read 2009 somewhere but probably a misprint.
I think he’s deserving… somewhat borderline, but deserving.
However, I don’t think he’s going to get the votes. 5 All-Star games isn’t a lot. No gold gloves. No MVPs. Never more than 110 RBI in a year.
I liked him, and he was a good classy player… but I dunno if he was ever the #1 or #2 guy you’d want at that position in baseball.
Edit: And just for the record… McGriffs numbers TOTALLY BLOW AWAY Jim Rice’s numbers. There’s no WAY on EARTH that Rice belongs in the hall. The guy’s entire career was the product of FENWAY PARK. Not talent.
