2011 Spring Training Cities
Applying for DEA academy. How competitive is it? Do i have a good shot?
Im a female. Currently 20 years old with 1 more year left of schooling until i receive my B.A. in criminal justice. Ill be graduating with a GPA of 3.3 or higher depending on this last year. I will have been a college athlete all 4 years, receiving a full ride scholarship for basketball. (Therefore i’m very strong and in great shape) Im also training in MMA (mixed martial arts) this summer. I have heard i need at least 3 years experience in law enforcement as well. I am going into the academy in the spring of next year as an internship through my school so ill be graduating with my degree and the academy finished by May 2011. Ill probably work for the city of Tampa and get my experience before applying for the DEA.
How do my chances look of getting in? I’ve heard the process is rigorous and competitive.

It is rigorous and competitive, with many more applicants than there are positions. If you follow through on what you propose, and can obtain good recommendations from those you have worked for, without disqualifying attributes, you should have a very good chance of getting hired.
