Major League Players Colleges

How many players from the 2003 MLB draft (drafted in 2003) are in the Major Leagues now?
In other words, I have a friend who is really good at baseball. He is a left-handed pitcher who throws around 89 with a few other pitches. He had a successful career in high school, and is planning on playing for three years in college. If he gets drafted, obviously he would take the once in a lifetime opporunity. However, I do not think it is worth trying. I mean, there are about 300 million Americans, and if you are one of the lucky 1,000 that does get drafted, you have to make it through single, double, and triple A. ALso, you can not get hurt. So i would like to know out of the 1000 or so drafted in 2003 or any specific year (2000-2006) are now in the majors. Also, if you could name names, that would be great. I would like to know the player who plays in the Majors and was drafted in the latest round. the more information the better. Please, and thanks in advance. Oh, and if any are pitchers, that would be useful to know as well. Thanks again.
I counted 20 out of the top 97 picks. He should go for it. The odds are low, but the experiences are worth it. Minor leaguers are paid a decent amount of money, and colleges will still accept him a few years.
A lot of ballclubs offer to pay for student’s college education if they don’t make it with the club. So he will get a college education.
The risk of injury is the same in college as the pros. So, that makes no difference.
It would be better to talk about this after he gets drafted, and how high. THough there are exceptions, the higher round you are picked, the better the chance of making it to the majors. The club that selects him will let him know of what’s best for him.
I found Brett Sinkbeil in the 38th round. He was selected out of HS by the Cards, but I believe he went to college. He is with the Marlins now, and though he isn’t in the majors now, he will be in a year or 2.
